Entitled Town

Bruce Allen, the founder of Boston Sports Media Watch, joins Dave & Ironhead. Bruce (who is not the General Manager of the Redskins) talks about the push back and criticism he received from Boston sports writers when he started questioning the coverage of area teams nearly two decades ago. Dave & Ironhead discuss the worst 33-7 win in Patriots history.

Dave & Ironhead interview Alex Barth of CLNS Media. Alex discusses the difficult decision to abandon his pro football dreams at age 6. Two decades later, Alex is working every media outlet in the known world, bust first and foremost covering the New England Patriots. Alex grew up not too far from Gillette Stadium and still brings his fanhood to his work. Ironhead & Dave discuss a challenging victory for the Patriots. Ironhead throws Dave under the bus.

Dave and Mark re-examine their infamous encounters with Bill Belichick, and Mark wonders if his questions to Bill have damaged his ascent in sports media. Jerry Thornton of Barstool Sports tells us how the Irish Rose told him to bail on his pension and chase his dream. Jerry addresses his tendency to freak out when things go bad for the Patriots. Patriots beat writer Jeff Howe explains his radical career choice to just report the facts. He also becomes the first Entitled Town guest to say bad things about Jeff Howe. Ironhead and Dave evaluate nuclear hot takes that have the Patriots going 19-0 in the wake of signing Antonio Brown. 

Dave and Ironhead take a Big L on Brian Hoyer, but are overall winners for having Mike Petraglia of CLNS as a guest. Mike talks about the pleasure of covering Bill Belichick press conferences going all the way back to Bill's time in Cleveland. He also discusses a change in philosophy that forever altered the course of WEEI.com. Ironhead insults his own mother's cooking.

Entitled Town is thrown into civil unrest when CLNS Patriots beat writer Evan Lazar divides the loyalties of its co-hosts. Former Patriots punter Chris Hanson and former Dateline NBC reporter Chris Hansen are referenced.

Dave & Mike evaluate some curious comments on the reinstatement of Josh Gordon, and interview the inimitable William Bendetson of BestPatsCoverage concerning his world-famous voice and the status of his Patriots press credential.

In the inaugural episode of Entitled Town, veteran sports journalist/attorney Dave Brown teams up with the Angriest Fan on Twitter, Mike Irons, to explore prevailing narratives and misguided expectations in Boston sports. Dave and Ironhead welcome their first guest, three-time Super Bowl champion and former Jet, Matt Chatham.
